SECTOR GATES

Units that regulate or divide the water flow for conserving or maintaining otherwise flooded zones. Specially manufactured following different norms, such as the AWWA, ASTM, AWS, ASME and DIN.

Sector Gates

Sector gates are ideal for aplications where the water flow containment levels is required, simultaneously with the provision of drainage services or service water flows.

The configuration of its design is adapted to each particular project being defined by the hydraulic levels to be controlled, the gate board will be housed in the bottom of the spillway channel allowing the availability of the largest hydraulic area in the open position of the gate for the condition of free discharge from downstream. The regulation of containment levels from upstream of the gate in closing position can be pre-set according to the reading levels of hydraulic load in an automated manner. The discharge is executed by the top of the gate functioning as a spillway.

The sector gates require a chamber inside the spillway to house the gate when it is open. This camera can be floodable or not, depending on the typology whether it is floating or not floating.

Gate types

  • Non floating: The housing chamber stays empty.
  • Floating: The housing chamber stays flooded.
  • European: The turn is made upstream (left)
  • American: The turn is made downstream (right). Also know as drum gates.
